Available for sale is this very impressive twin bedroom set made by Herts Brothers during the turn of the 20th century in the Louis XV style. The extensive inlay includes brass, copper, pewter and mother of pearl and the four-piece set includes a pair of matching dressers. The suite includes an original label confirming the Herts Brothers association.
Herts Brothers was a very important New York firm that started in 1877 and was incorporated in 1902. They won the highest awards in their class at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair (Columbian Exhibition) for this very style of furniture.
They outfitted many famous hotels at the time including Hotel St. Regis, the Knickerbocker, the Woodward, and Murray Hill Hotels. They also furnished many banks and yachts of the wealthy, including William Astor.
Herts Brothers went bankrupt in 1908.
