Louis-Comfort-Tiffany-Chair

I know that many were interested in the "Tiffany Chairs" in the recent Rago Arts and Auction sale from the 1880/1890 Aesthetic Movement period which sold for $390,400. An outright attribution has not been made, however, the chair has been described as being similar to the work of Louis Comfort Tiffany. I have provided additional images below courtesy of Dr. Roberta Mayer who worked on the authentication of the chairs. More details on the sale can also be read on the Urban Art and Antiques site.

    Nice to see more/ better pics. of them. Nice design, and nicely carved. If chairs in that shape brought 320k (panels are cracked and falling out or already out, finish is poor - has major chips and gouges in the wood, upholstery is beyond shot, etc). What would a pair in nice shape or restored be worth? Mindboggling. woodwright

    I agree Woodright, It's scary to think what they will be worth if properly restored..... SHHHEEEEEESH. They are gorgeous though. But really, I have to draw the line at 315,000 for a pair of chairs, anything more than that is just indulgent. :P
