Elijah Galusha Settee 1 Elijah Galusha Settee Photos

As I always say, one cannot have too many Elijah Galusha reference photos lying around for that emergency Rococo furniture identification that always pops up.  This set is from a Galusha settee at the Rensselaer County Historical Society in Troy, NY that I haven’t put up yet.

He seems to have been fond of “reeding” his foliage and flower petals.  He also did not stick to one orientation or the other for the reeding on the foliage – it could go in either direction.  I’m also wondering if he ever touched a board of walnut for his Rococo work in his life.  I’ve not recalled a single documented piece done in walnut.

One more for the archives…

Still looks a lot like my walnut set.

Awesome! Someday I’ll find one of these for sale! Thanks for the pictures!

  • Hello, I noticed your photo of our Galusha Settee. We are glad you are promoting the collection of Galusha furniture that we have at our museum, but I noticed that you call us the Rensselaer Historical Society. We are actually the Rensselaer County Historical Society located in Troy, NY. There is a City of Rensselaer Historical Society as well. I wouldn’t want people to be confused as to where they are going to see the Galusha furniture.
    Thank you.
