I was perusing the Armory show on 67th Street yesterday and while I was dashing through at lightspeed scanning the dearth of Victoriana, I had to stop to hear the rest of this conversation between two random show-goers:
She, admiring a piece of art: “the duality [of the piece]….it’s incredible”.
He: “Yes, it’s palpable”.
Me, thinking: “gag”.
I always thought that the art lovers in the world that spoke like that were only those mocked fictionally in TV and movies. Not so.
Anyway, if you stop by the other Armory show on 26th Street this weekend, be sure to say hi to Joan Bogart. I spent a couple hours with her yesterday and had a great time chatting. Her signed Meeks cabinet is to the right.

LOL, See there! thats why they frisk those victoriana people at those early amer/federal shows.
John, I have to ask, out of curiosity, “What were they looking at?” Perhaps themselves!
John, RVR
Not sure what they were looking at, John. I think it was a painting.
Seriously, this is the sort of thing that turns off many people to collecting. Add in shady practices like attribution for instance and BAM, the antiques industry has some issues if they want new clients
