Late 19th Century Merklen Brother Table, Unfortunately Painted

As an owner of 4 Merklen tables and being a big fan of their work, I just about fell out of my chair when I came across this familiar Merklen table that has been completely painted - Pink. Thank goodness they saw fit to spare the brass feet and the griffins supporting the second tier table top. I may be up for a rescue ...     Pink! That is something my grand parents (rest their souls) would have done. They painted any "bare" wood with awful colors. I'd be hesitant to take on restoring that one. I did my wife's Hunzinger rocker that has twisted spindles... took me over 40 hours and I probably lost half the brain cells in my head due to stripper fumes.
