Cottone Auctions - Winter 2008 Art and Antique AuctionCottone Autions is having an auction this weekend and there are a few pieces of Victorian furniture going up for sale. Cottone is located in Geneseo, NY about 36 miles outside of Rochester. With a name like Geneseo, I had to look up whether Genesee Beer was brewed nearby and found that, yes indeed it is a Rochester beer. "Geneseo" comes from the Native American (Seneca) word, "Gen-nis-he-yo", which means "pleasant banks" or "beautiful valley".

Cottone is not hooked into the Ebay bidding system, so phone and absentee bidding are your options if you are not within range of the auction house.

The Renaissance Revival hall tree below would look good in my foyer. I've had a quartersawn oak lion head hall bench in my foyer for a couple of years now and have always been on the lookout for an earlier piece to replace it. Bidding range is expected between $4,000 and $6,000. You can see the full collection of furniture going up for bid at the Cottone auction here.
