Ebonized Aesthetic Pedestal
Up for bidding is an excellent c. 1870s Aesthetic Pedestal from an unidentified maker. It has many attributes of a very fine piece: burl walnut panels, detailed inlay work, and gold incising. I wouldn’t be surprised if it were later found to be by Pottier & Stymus. There is a condition problem on the top: a split and some of the finish was worn off. There is gilding and finish wear throughout the piece but not to any degree that can’t be readily restored. The pedestal is 42″ tall and 15″ wide at the base. Currently bid up to $460 and the auction ends April 8th.
