Ferdinando Aesthetic Ivory Inlaid Table

Published by John Werry under Uncategorized

0583 1 lg 754319 Ferdinando Aesthetic Ivory Inlaid TableHere is a very complex and detailed table with ivory, silver, copper, and mother of pearl inlays. The cherub scene in the middle of the table can’t be missed. The table is surrounded rather than supported by four caryatid figures with paw feet. This is the first piece by Ferdinando (attributed) that I have seen and will need to do more research on this talented furniture maker. I can see how the seller would suggest that Herter Brothers has been influenced by his work.

More from the listing:

Insanely detailed ivory and multi wood inlaid Italian library table by Ferdinando (1832-1899). Undeniably this maker influenced Herter Brothers as many details exquisitely featured on this high quality rare find are similar to Herter C.1870. Works of this maker were featured at the Expositions in Philadelphia in 1876 and Paris in 1878. The center inlaid scene includes ivory, silver, copper, mother of pearl inlay of cherubic scene. Dimensions: 30 1/4″ H x 47″ L x 31″ W Age: C. 1870 Material: Mixed woods, ivory, silver, copper and mother of pearl

Bidding starts at $9,900 and expected range is $30,000 to $40,000. Listing ends March 24th.
